Florida Family Mediation and Collaborative Divorce

At the Law Offices of Kuske & Ragano, P.A. in Tampa our family law attorneys are committed to resolving difficult and emotional issues such as divorce and child custody in the most efficient and productive manner possible. We are always prepared to go to trial if it is in our client's best interests, but often are able to help our clients work out solutions using the less stressful processes of mediation or collaborative law. When a couple is able to work out some or all details of a divorce or custody agreement through a cooperative process facilitated by professionals, the resulting agreement is generally more satisfactory than an order imposed by a judge who is unfamiliar with the parties involved. The process also helps parents establish a framework for future cooperation.

If you would like to speak with one of our lawyers, please contact our office to arrange a consultation. At that time, you can determine which strategy is appropriate for your situation.

Family mediation, child custody and visitation

If a divorce or other family dispute involves child custody or another issue involving children, Florida law requires that the parties participate in mediation. In the mediation process, a mediator facilitates the development of an agreement to be submitted to the court. The court will generally approve any reasonable arrangement worked out by the parties in this way. Our attorneys help clients prepare for mediation and protect their interests during the process.

Collaborative law and divorce

Resolving terms of a divorce — including property division, alimony, child custody, and visitation — through collaborative law is an alternative to a divorce trial. Each spouse is represented by a lawyer, and additional parties in the process may include joint experts such as accountants, appraisers and parent coordinators. The attorneys representing the spouses during the collaborative law process sign an agreement to remove themselves from the case if the divorce goes to court, a powerful incentive to work out an agreement.
